I will say this. It gets less about virginity loss/prude-shaming and moves on to some more serious issues, and I think that a lot of the characters are likable (not Tony) and fun. But Chris does recreational drugs all the time (if that’s not your thing), Anwar is always horny (though he doesn’t have very many scenes), and Tony is always horrible (until he gets hit by that bus).
I could not tell you why I loved Skins, but I did.
I love these people.
Skins
- Tony — Ringleader type. I was glad when he got hit by that bus.
- Michelle — Perfect-on-the-outside girl. I walked the line between caring and not caring about her.
- Sid — Tony’s BFF; for lack of a better word, a loser, but he tries. He was one of my favorites.
- Cassie — Manic Pixie Dream Girl; had an eating disorder for a while that was soon glossed over. Reminiscent of Luna Lovegood: blond, dreamy, weird, but her friends like her. Says “wow” a lot.
- Jal — Achiever.
- Maxxie — Beautiful gay person, wonderful in every way. There was not nearly enough Maxxie.
- Anwar — Maxxie’s BFF. Occasionally his conservative Muslim family/upbringing becomes a source of conflict. The horniest horndog.
- Chris — Burnout. My absolute favorite character.
They have issues together.
So anyway.
